a brief history:
* dressember began as a personal style challenge in 2009
* dressember’s creator, blythe hill, decided to align the challenge with international justice mission in 2013. in that first campaign year, 1,200 women raised over $165,000 to help end human trafficking
* in 2014, 2,500 women raised over $465,000
* in 2015, a21 was added as a grant partner, and 4,600 women raised over $915,000
i’ve always felt a call to help others, but being an 18 year old with little money or influence, i felt there wasn’t much that i could do to affect the grand scheme of things. when I heard about dressember i felt like i could help and that i could change someone’s life by fighting to end human trafficking.
i’m so incredibly fortunate to have a simple life in a suburban community, but there are so many people that don’t have these luxuries. dressember is something that i believe in and that i feel can make a huge difference in the lives of so many people, women in particular. i will fight for the inherent dignity of all women and the belief that every woman has the right to a vibrant life.
if you are able, i greatly encourage you to get involved, to donate, to show other humans some love in a world that experiences so much pain and sadness. thank you for taking the time to read my post!
